What is Defense for?

Defense cuts how much of the incoming damage lands, and is central to survival.

Defense is one of the main defensive stats.

Raising it helps resist physical attacks and feeds the combat formulas.

That said, extremely high defence can be partly undone by Ignore Defense, special damage, skills and other modifiers.
