Is the highest map always the best one?

No: the best spot is the one that maximises experience per hour while keeping your kill speed high.

Not necessarily.

To judge a spot, weigh:

  • EXP per monster.
  • How many monsters there are.
  • Respawn time.
  • Distance between monsters.
  • Your damage.
  • Your survivability.
  • Competition from other players.

A slightly lower spot where you kill 2 or 3 times faster can give far more experience per hour.
